Method
Prepare the Potatoes
- Peel and dice the potatoes into uniform pieces.
- Place the diced potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Make the Sauce
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
Combine and Serve
- Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Pour the cheese sauce over the potatoes and gently stir to combine.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional cheese or herbs if desired.
