Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
Sandwich Fillings
  • 8 ounces Fresh mozzarella cheese Sliced
  • 2 medium Sliced tomatoes
  • 1 cup Basil leaves
  • 4 ounces Prosciutto or salami
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic glaze
  • 1 cup Pepperoncini peppers

Method
 

Making the Dough
  1. In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, warm water, active dry yeast, olive oil, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Baking the Focaccia
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface to about 1-inch thickness and cut into mini rounds.
  3. Place the mini focaccia rounds on a baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Assembling the Sandwiches
  1. Once cooled, slice the focaccia in half and layer with fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, basil leaves, prosciutto or salami, balsamic glaze, and pepperoncini peppers.
  2. Close the sandwiches and serve immediately or store for later.
