Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken Use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or Monterey Jack.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For Frying
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 2 cups vegetable oil For frying.
For Serving
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup guacamole

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cheese, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Assemble the Flautas
  1. Warm the tortillas in a skillet over low heat until pliable. Place about 2 tablespoons of the chicken mixture in the center of each tortilla, roll tightly, and secure with a toothpick if necessary.
Fry the Flautas
  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the flautas in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
Serve
  1. Serve hot with sour cream, salsa, and guacamole on the side.

Notes

For a healthier version, bake the flautas at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
