Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded Use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
Flautas
  • 8 small corn tortillas Warmed to prevent cracking.
  • 2 cups vegetable oil For frying.
Garnishes
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, cheddar cheese, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Assemble the Flautas
  1. Take a warmed tortilla, place a few tablespoons of the chicken mixture in the center, and roll tightly. Repeat with remaining tortillas.
Fry the Flautas
  1. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the flautas in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
Serve
  1. Serve hot with sour cream, salsa, and chopped cilantro on the side.

Notes

For a healthier option, bake the flautas at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
